I rarely talk about home out here, but this time it warrants an exception. It's been a month and 3 days since I moved to Bombay. In other words, I have a job now. And sometimes, I have the time to cook. So, I bought a pressure cooker and the rest of the artillery to kick some ass in the kitchen. I won't have to be at the mercy of restaurants and their half-boiled rice any more. I've switched to eating Idli Sambar every morning, and sometimes for dinner too, just to play safe. I keep telling myself, 'how life-threatening can a plate of idli sambar be? They steam and boil the microbes to death.' And then, I reason, 'idli, carbohydrate, sambar, protein, fruits and vegetables-I-can-eat-raw, vitamins and minerals, milk, fat' to cover for the lack of a balanced diet.
I've had enough. I want to have more. So, I'm cooking from tomorrow.
I better go buy some rice, toor daal, methi or palak, tamarind, chillies, pasupu, sasuvulu, jeelakarra, groundnut oil, karivepaku, and kothimiri. Otherwise, these are empty vessels. And I'm just making a lot of noise.
I cook a proper Andhra vegetarian meal. So, if you fancy pappu, charu, perugu, annam and some powders my mom sent me (not gunpowder, you idiot), you're welcome for dinner. Or breakfast, or lunch if you like it cold.
